DIY Dollar Store Fall Pumpkin Wreath<\/h2>\n

\nAt the beginning of Fall I made my first wreath of the year! Took long enough, but if there’s any season to get me into the crafting spirit, it’s Fall. I was sure to take lots of photos along the way for anyone who may want to replicate and enjoy this inexpensive DIY dollar store fall pumpkin wreath.<\/p>\n

Pumpkin Wreath Cost<\/h3>\n

One of the main highlights for this project is that it is relatively inexpensive to make. The most expensive thing would be if you need to purchase a hot glue gun and sticks. A reasonably priced one that is still decent quality can be found at any major craft store such as Michaels. I use this one by Gorilla, which can be purchased here on Amazon. https:\/\/amzn.to\/478ML6d<\/a>
\nThe rest of the supplies shown in the picture above is $1.25 per item. I purchased three rolls of orange ribbon, three packages of burlap leaves, a pumpkin shaped wreath frame, a pair of decorative corns and a packge of white pumpkin clips. My total for the supplies was $11.25 (not including the string lights). The only additional materials I used was the hot glue gun, glue sticks (this project only used four sticks) and a wreath hanger.
\nI spent four hours total putting the wreath together. Two in the evening after the kids went to sleep and two the next morning while they played. I include time in the “cost” of a project, so really this pumpkin wreath costed me $11.25 and four hours of my life.<\/p>\n

Designing the Wreath<\/h3>\n

I started by folding the ribbon around the wire and tying to secure it.\u00a0 Then I bunched up the ribbon in small sections, to keep the wreath put together but still looking not completely perfect. I always leave things a little scrambled looking so that if there’s a true mistake, it’s impossible to tell on the finished product.<\/p>\n

After the ribbon was well secured I went around the outside of the wreath to create a solid border and highlight the pumpkin shape. Doing the entire outline of the pumpkin shape used two of my three rolls of ribbon.<\/p>\n

This is when I took my break for the night. I started up again in the moring with my trusty coffee. This mug is my seasonal favorite. I purchased it at Target, but you can find a similar one here on Amazon\u00a0https:\/\/amzn.to\/45NAaEv<\/a><\/p>\n

After some coffee, I started using my third ribbon roll. Each wire line of the pumpkin is wrapped lightly by the ribbon. I didn’t want to make the wreath too thick so it lost it’s pumpkin lines. For the best results, I create my wreaths while they’re hanging. This helps visualize how they’ll look when they’re finished. It also helps see potential bald spots or lopsidedness. I also purchased a string of leaf lights, but realized partway through building the wreath that I would’ve wanted a second string to make it bright enough, so I opted out of using the lights.<\/p>\n

Finishing Touches<\/h3>\n

The next few steps were much more fun. I got to add in the leaves I used to create the stem for the top. Then the colored burlap leaves scattered around the pumpkin to add more autumn elements. Again, I placed these as randomly as possible. Finall I attached the corn cobs by tying them on to the wire frame, and one of the white pumpkins by clipping it on. Each of my children happily claimed a pumpkin for themselves as well.<\/p>\n

Finished! Even without the lights I was pretty please with the outcome of the wreath. I would love to create similar wreaths with the same design idea of a shaped metal frame and colored ribbon to highlight it. A tree for Christmas or a heart for Valentine’s Day would be cute, fun, inexpensive projects to proudly display as a front door decoration.<\/p>\n
