{"id":75,"date":"2023-07-20T11:39:50","date_gmt":"2023-07-20T11:39:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/neighborsatheart.com\/?p=75"},"modified":"2023-09-14T15:19:13","modified_gmt":"2023-09-14T15:19:13","slug":"pink-aglaonema","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/neighborsatheart.com\/index.php\/2023\/07\/20\/pink-aglaonema\/","title":{"rendered":"Pink Aglaonema (Chinese Evergreen)"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Pink Aglaonema Introduction<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>After receiving my first Pink Aglaonema AKA Chinese Evergreen from a friend a couple of weeks ago, it was time to check out her roots and add a little more soil! She&#8217;s been adjusting nicely to her new home. She&#8217;s been growing since I received her, and she&#8217;s definitely keeping up her pink tones. Let&#8217;s see what information I can dig up to share.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Back Story<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>I received my Aglaonema from a friend I met years ago playing The Elder Scrolls Online (see my ESO blog post here <a href=\"https:\/\/neighborsatheart.com\/index.php\/2023\/08\/12\/the-elder-scrolls-online-eso\/\">https:\/\/neighborsatheart.com\/index.php\/2023\/08\/12\/the-elder-scrolls-online-eso\/<\/a>). I only recently met this friend in person after moving to Virginia in April of 2023. He gifted me this Evergreen, and I gifted him an Ice Priness Philodendron. Both plant babies are thriving in their new households. I originally thought it was a Pink Philodendron Princess, however after seeing my new plant for a little longer I discovered that it was in fact a Chinese Evergreen.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Re-Potting<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>You can see in the background of the photo I removed her from a plastic cage-like structure. This is the container she was started in at the nursery. Removing the basket prevents any roots from having their circulation cut off. She&#8217;s now in a plastic cup with small drainage holes in the bottom. I use Miracle Grow Potting Soil for my houseplants, take a look for it on <a href=\"http:\/\/amazon.com\">http:\/\/amazon.com<\/a> or at your local plant store. Occassionally, I use additional natural fertilizers such as coffee grounds, egg shells, or banana water rather than a commercial fertilizer.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Aglaonema Care<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>I allow my Aglaonema to dry out a little between waterings, and I keep her in a very bright room, with only<em> indirect<\/em> light. The south facing windows in my rental home allow for all of my plants to have bright indirect light for most of the day. We&#8217;ll see how the plant&#8217;s looks change once I move into my new house. Most likely, I expect the leaves to revert to being more green than pink. They are a <em>beginner friendly <\/em>houseplant and are good air purifiers.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Personal Notes<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>This is my first Pink Aglaonema (Chinese Evergreen) and I think I&#8217;ll have good luck with her.
