New Year, New Blog Post!
Greetings, I hope everyone has had a wonderful end to 2024! This may be one of my plainer blog posts, but getting back to the task is the first step to reinviting creative writing into my mind. The first Facebook status I posted at the beginning of 2024 was “hopefully 2024 will be less eventful than 2023”. I was so wrong. It was so busy in fact, that this is the first post I’ve sat down to write in months (apologies). Lil’ A has been in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu all year and graduated speech therapy. Lil’ C has been super busy with toys and projects at home, as well as making friends at a library play group. We’ve added a couple more animals to our home and more plants than I can keep track of! Work really picked up for me since I’ve been learning more about nail enhancement, designs and retention. And finally, I started online college again to pursue a career change!
New Year’s Resolutions
With the New Year comes New Year’s Resolutions, and I must admit mine never tend to stick longer than a few months. In 2024 my resolution was to take better care of my teeth, which I’m proud to say I truly did! I refined my habits, broke out the electric toothbrush again and wore my retainer more regularly. It all seems so mundane, but it was my resolution, and it lasted! This year, my resolution will be to focus on my body and my happiness. I hate the thought of “getting back into shape”, but I love the thought of setting time aside to increase my heart rate and strengthen my muscles. While I wouldn’t normally consider a job to be taking care of myself, this year I’m committing to learning on the job and keeping healthy boundaries with work. I’m also focusing on making sure my hobbies stay hobbies. I know that sounds ridiculous, but have you ever felt like the things you enjoy doing also become commitments? Like if you don’t do them, you’re slacking? My plants, gaming and my blogging all fall victim to that category if I’m not paying attention. For 2025, I want all these things to just bring joy. My final New Year’s Resolution I’m considering a goal rather than a resolution. By the end of 2025, I want to be free of student loans and consumer debt besides our vehicle. This is a hefty goal, since we were so busy last year, our financial drive slowed to a halt. Changing money habits is a resolution, but the goal is my motivation. In my first college course I learned that each goal needs motivation. Without motivation, there’s no reason to complete the goal.
2025, Here We Go!
Overall, I’m obviously excited for the new year and all it has to offer. I’ll be projecting good thoughts into the world and hope that’s what returns. We’re gearing up for more adventures and more blog posts this year. I will be starting off strong with my resolutions and goals as soon as I’m back home from visiting family. What New Year’s resolutions are on your agenda? Feel free to comment below or share tips for my resolutions. Cheers!
